I'm baaaa-aaaaack!

7 years. I get it. It's a long time. Where have I been, you may ask? Two words. "Life happened".

Also, server issues happened. All the magic smoke escaped. I recovered all the data, but getting the content management system up and running took a bit longer. It was written in an older version of PHP (it was current at the time, back in 2014-2016). The newer version of PHP had changed certain parts of the API. As a result, it took a fair bit of rewriting to get the system to run.

Priority of course had to be given to paying customers, and my personal blog had to take a back seat for a few months.

There were a few postings on here after the "adventures in car audio" post, but they appear to have gone to the bit bucket. The big hard drive in the sky. No clue as to why, as the old server was non-functional. It was by pure chance that I was able to extract all the data from the hard disks.

With the best of intentions, I'd been meaning to post an update on here for a while. And never got around to it.

This morning, an automated email came through reminding me that the "ilikejam.co.uk" domain is up for renewal. So I figured, ok, I ought to post something up here, even if it's just a quick note.

The good news? The new server is running entirely from an SSD - no more spinning rust. And eagle-eyed readers may also have noticed that the padlock icon is showing in the address bar. That's right, we now have a nice shiny SSL certificate for the blog. (And for all sites hosted on the same server.)

This is the aforementioned quick note. Expect a more lengthly posting in the next few days. (And this time I'll try not to wait 7 years before posting an update!)

In the meantime, have a photo of a cute kitten to make up for the lack of posting.
